Summer Plans…

It looks like moving to the District is a go. My summer classes have been grouped with my fall classes. I’ve informed the bank that I will be leaving for the summer…I have yet to hear a response from them. That’s okay, I’ve arranged for alternative employment for the fall if the bank is unwilling to work with me.

I love demand!

Another Quote from The Office…

“Without a doubt, coffee is the single best incentivisor for an office. The secret is that it’s quite literally a drug that speeds people up. It’s not the only one. You hear stories…in the ’80s when people didn’t know how bad cocaine was. Man did they move paper!”

Alternate Contact…

Due to my phone being broken (again) and a two (2) day delay for a replacement to arrive, I can be reached once again on my alternate number. You can also reach me via email at amoore@fnba.com.

Thanks!

The year ahead…

I’m finalizing my schedule for May 2008 to May 2009. It looks like I will be taking a three (3) credit class for the first two (2) weeks in May and then use the remainder of the summer months for a few internships positions - one in D.C. and then here in town - which I have yet to finalize. In August 2008 through April 2009 I have a total of twenty (20) credits to complete. In May 2009, I will have a degree in Building Construction Management.

The goal for this week is to arrange for employment during the 2008-2009 school year and then finalize my plans for the summer.

Good Day to you all!

Interviewing….

I sat in on a lecture this morning on interviewing. Though I’ve been involved in a dozen or so interviews - both as the interviewer and interviewee - I was slightly intrigued. The lecturer presented a handful of questions for refining your thoughts before the actual interview…

  1.  How would you define success in your career?
  2. What goals do you have associated with defining a successful career?
  3. Are there any interim goals in reaching the goal of a successful career?

The perfect shot of espresso cont’d…

After another particularly bitter shot of espresso this morning, I decided to do a little investigating. The shot took especially long to pull which led me to believe the grind is too fine for the machine and/or I applied too much pressure to the grounds.

Lesson #2:

Proper tamping is done by adding approximately 30 - 40 pounds of pressure to the coffee grinds.

I realize I am not a professional Barista so if anyone out there would care to offer any additional suggestions, be my guest.

Poor Design…

I’m sitting here working in one of the University’ mass computer labs. The lab is roughly 4000 square foot in size and holds 75 desktop computers and two server racks.  The current temperature is 81 degrees. Apart from two cutouts approximately six square feet in size for air exhaust and intake, there is no additional equipment to supplement the heat. With world renowned design programs here at MSU, it seems like designing a solution would be a easy.  What do you think?

Raquetball…

I played raquetball with some friends this evening. First time since, well, Nathan and I last played some years ago. I must say, I haven’t been this sore since my days playing High School sports.

Overall I was pleased with tonight’ workout. Anyone who wants to play racquetball or any other similar activity, give me a call.

Stay the course…

During “Drew time” tonight I came across the following:

“If you become a necessity to someone else’s life, you are out of God’s will. As a servant, your primary responsibility is to be a ‘friend of the bridegroom’ (3:29)…”

This is something I’ve struggled with for as long as I can remember - trying to prevent others from going through difficult struggles.

“…but pray that his difficulty will grow even ten times stronger, until no power on earth or in hell could hold him away from Jesus Christ.”

And so, it is my goal for the week to hold true to this instruction.
