I met with a few employees the other day to discuss the level of professionalism they recently portrayed in a particular action. I explained to them that the particular act was wrong and then reiterated how the situation should have been dealt with.
Two (2) of the three (3) responded with an apology and a promise that it won’t happen again. The third employee immediately responded with defensive remarks and proceeded to distribute the blame to the other two.
This got me thinking. When people make requests, do I get defensive or do I take responsibility for my actions? And so, it is my goal for the week to admit when I’m wrong and move ahead.
Good luck this week.
